About Our Internship Program

Since 2016, we have recruited summer interns for paid internships working primarily in the area of immigration law. Interns are given substantive work in connection with our many pro bono cases and initiatives. Through the 2-3 month internship, interns work with immigrants and refugees facing deportation by interviewing clients, researching, and assisting in the preparation of asylum applications. Interns accompany our attorneys to court and work with our many partner community organizations. Given the mature subject matter involved with asylum and refugee law, we seek interns between their junior year of college and last year of law school. Law school interns are separately mentored and work primarily on higher level briefing and legal research. The goal of the internship is to give students an in-depth understanding of immigration law and real practice experience. The hope is that they will go on in their careers and lives not only understanding the reality of our immigration system, but seeking to change it for the better.
